AWS Fundamentals for IT Support
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's largest cloud platform. Basic familiarity is increasingly useful in corporate IT support roles.
Core Services to Know
- EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud): virtual servers in the cloud
- S3 (Simple Storage Service): scalable file/object storage
- IAM (Identity and Access Management): controls who can access what - similar concept to Active Directory but for cloud resources
- VPC (Virtual Private Cloud): isolated network environment within AWS
- CloudWatch: monitoring and logging for AWS resources
Why It's Relevant
Many companies now run hybrid environments (on-premise + cloud). IT support may handle tickets related to cloud-based resources, VPN access to cloud environments, or basic AWS console navigation.
Interview Talking Point
