Suggested Lab Exercises

  • Lab 1 – Ping Test: Run ping google.com and ping 8.8.8.8. Compare results – what does it tell you about DNS vs. raw connectivity?
  • Lab 2 – Check IP Configuration: Run ipconfig. Identify your IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
  • Lab 3 – DNS Lookup: Run nslookup amazon.com. What IP address does it return?
  • Lab 4 – Trace a Route: Run tracert amazon.com. Observe the hops between your device and the destination.
  • Lab 5 – Flush DNS Cache: Run ipconfig /flushdns. When would this fix a real issue?
